Abstract

Repeated feeding of dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) in parenterally pre primed guinea pigs resulted in specific tolerogenic effect. In this experiment, the animals were initially pre-primed to DNCB, each given daily feeding of 3 mg DNCB dissolved in olive oil for 6 days, and subsequently challenged with DNCB at three different intervals. The feeding resulted in a partial suppression of contact sensitivity reaction which lasted for approximately ¢¥4 weeks.
The antigen specificity of oral desensitization in the pre-primed guinea pigs was also demonstrated. In the trinitrochlorobenzene (TNCB) ;pre-primed animals, DNCB feeding had no effect on the development of TNCB contact sensitivity reaction, but induced specific tolerance to DNCB contact sensitivity.
